Surrounding local area

The Granary is set in beautiful, gently rolling countryside close to the Suffolk coast. There are a number of picturesque villages with fine architecture on display in the local area. Peasenhall is worth a visit and along with Sibton is part of a joint conservation area with a number of historic buildings. Framlingham is also only a short drive away. The coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh are also close by and the surrounding countryside forms part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The heathland is a haven for wildlife and RSPB Minsmere and the coastal path to Dunwich provide fantastic walking whilst taking in the scenery and bird and animal life.

There are a number of pubs close to The Granary which provide good food. The Sibton White Horse is an award winning pub using fresh local ingredients. The neighbouring village of Badingham also has The White Horse, again worth a visit. If you are looking for treats to take back to The Granary try Emmett's of Peasenhall or Leo's Deli in Framlingham has some very tasty treats.

The countryside lends itself to gentle walking or for those wanting to get a little further afield you could consider hiring bikes. Suffolk Cycle Hire can help you out and you can explore further afield but still experiencing the peace and quiet of the area. There are a number of designated cycle routes in the area including the national route 1 and regional routes as well. Whatever you choose to do on your holiday, you can return to the peaceful setting of The Granary to relax and enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside.

Guest reviews

Well appointed and quiet. Would have given 5 stars if the inside staircase (which has an awkward right-angle bend) had had a handrail on BOTH sides. But this will not stop us from visiting the Granary again.

What a great weekend we've had in your lovely Granary. Visited Southwold and Aldeburgh Food Festival was great. Missed the barn owl but always next time. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

The accommodation has been very tastefully and thoughtfully converted. It was warm throughout our stay (there were some very cold days!) cosy and very comfortable and had everything one would need, especially its location,to provide a perfect and peaceful place to relax. A true rural retreat and delight.

The most amazing position in stunning scenery - The property is just perfect in every way, clean & tidy but homely at the same time which for me is a winning combination! Close enough to the coastal towns but far enough away to feel the peace of The Granary's surroundings!
