Surrounding local area

Marsh Lodge is situated on the outskirts of Aldeburgh, opposite the Golf Club. The club has two course – a championship course and the river course which is a nine-hole course overlooking the River Alde. It is approximately 10 minutes walk into the town which provides all the amenities that you could want during your stay. There are a number of restaurants and cafes serving excellent food. Try the Two Magpies bakery for your morning coffee or take out a treat from Slate to have an al fresco experience on the beach.

Besides the beach there are lots of lovely walks in the area taking in the Alde estuary and the heaths which form part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you fancy an active holiday then Aldeburgh Yacht Club can provide sailing lessons or hire a bike from Suffolk Cycle Hire and head out on the quiet roads in the area.

The coastal towns or Southwold and Walberswick are worth visiting. Take the foot passenger ferry from Walberswick across to Southwold and explore the town including the Adnams Brewery and the 623ft long Pier. The market towns of Woodbridge and Framlingham are approximately half an hour from Aldeburgh. They boast a number of interesting buildings including the Castle in Framlingham and the Tide Mill in Woodbridge. Sutton Hoo, the Saxon burial ground is just outside Woodbridge.

There are a huge variety of different things to see and do during your stay but equally you can simply enjoy relaxing in the luxurious surroundings of Marsh Lodge. If you have been out exploring you know that at the end of the day you can return to the peace and quiet to take in the fabulous views down to the Alde.
