Property details

The Dairy is a wonderful, refurbished holiday cottage with three double bedrooms, ample living space and its own private decked terrace. This spacious property has been finished to a very high standard with its unique fittings giving it a lovely cosy feel.
In 2013, the owners painstakingly restored The Dairy and neighbouring properties into what is now a lovely holiday cottage for up to six people. The open plan ground floor, with double height, contemporary sitting room and full height windows, really bring the 'outside in' making the most of the spectacular views across Suffolk’s rolling countryside.
The Dairy has its own private outside space and decked area with seating for six.

It can be let separately for six or with the adjoining Buttery and Parlour to accommodate up to 12 guests. The combination of all three properties is known as Lodge Farm. This flexibility makes it both a perfect couples’ getaway and an ideal family property offering private space separated by interconnecting, sound-proofed, double doors.

Guests also have access to the owner’s delightful Shepherd’s Hut situated by a picturesque pond – perfect for picnics, swimming for the brave or just unwinding.

Surrounding local area

Freston is a charming village, located on the Shotley Peninsular, just a few miles south of Ipswich, on the River Orwell. The area is home to the Suffolk Food Hall (run by the owners), which is a nationally recognised farm shop and restaurant selling the best of Suffolk. Only a few miles away is Jimmy's Farm made famous by the BBC, which is a great attraction for all the family. There are several private roads around the farm, along with a network of guided footpaths and cycle paths to explore. Enjoy the river by land or boat and savour a well-earned drink at the Butt and Oyster pub in Pin Mill. Alton Water recreational facilities are also within cycling distance.

Shotley Peninsular
An awe-inspiring location between the River Orwell and the River Stour. Towards the tip of the peninsular there are extensive views of the Port of Felixstowe, Landguard Fort and Harwich. The landscape is predominantly ancient estate farmlands, salt marshes and mudflats – the latter offer feeding grounds for estuary birds, wild fowl and waders.

Home of the UK’s largest container port but also a well-loved seaside resort with sand and shingle beaches, a long promenade, seafront gardens and a variety of seaside attractions. North of the town centre is the old fishing hamlet of Felixstowe Ferry with its gallery, golf course, boat yard, fresh fish stands and riverside inn – well worth a visit.

Constable Country
This beautiful area is situated on the Suffolk / Essex border approximately 20 minutes from Freston. The charm of the villages, fascinating local attractions and the beauty of the surrounding countryside means there is no shortage of places to visit and things to see.

Is a beautiful riverside town full of things to see and do. This busy market town has deep connections to the water, and the surrounding area offers some of the most important historical sites in the country.Charming shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes are found all over town, offset by picture-perfect architecture. Shoppers will love Woodbridge’s quirky outdoor markets, which are packed with vintage traders and gorgeous finds, and foodies should visit the Woodbridge Shuck, an annual autumn festival of delicious seafood, held as a fringe event of the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival.

The Shotley Peninsular is only 40 minutes from the pretty coastal towns of Aldeburgh, Orford and Thorpeness – ideal for a day trip.
