Things to do in Suffolk: Landguard Point, Felixstowe
An unusual and very interesting viewing area by the biggest container port in the UK, as well as museum, nature reserve and visitor centre with cafe nearby.
The Port of Felixstowe is Britain's busiest container port and one of the largest in Europe. Watch the hustle and bustle as vast container ships come into the harbour to load and unload.
Take time to visit the wonderful Nature Reserve at Landguard. Covering approximately 33 hectares (81 acres) this shingle spit on the southern tip of Suffolk's coastline offers a variety of flora and fauna. See unusual and rare plants, migrating birds, military history and huge ships.
The Landguard Visitor Centre and View Point Cafe is a warm and friendly building with fun hands-on displays, videos and exhibits on the attractions of the Peninsula, public toilets and a 60 seater cafe (with both indoor and outdoor seating).
At Landguard Fort you can discover the rich military and maritime heritage of one of England's best preserved coastal defences, with a history spanning almost 450 years. Lots of family and interactive activities.
There's also a seasonal foot ferry to Shotley Point and Harwich from Landguard.
